Willian has lifted the lid on how his former Chelsea team-mate David Luiz helped convince him to join Arsenal.
The pair are close friends, having first met in their native Brazil back when they were just eight years old, before playing alongside each other at Stamford Bridge.
Willian has now joined Luiz in making the move across London to Arsenal and has revealed that the defender is delighted to be sharing a dressing room with him again.
“He’s very happy,” Willian told the club’s official website. “We played together in the national team, we played together at Chelsea, and now at Arsenal again.

“I think we can do great things together, I hope so, but I’m very happy to be with him again. He said, ‘Come to Arsenal, come to Arsenal, I want you to come!’
“So that was the conversation. He is a very nice guy, a top player and I’m very excited to play with him again. Of course [he helped in the past], many times.

“Many times when I had difficult times at Chelsea he was helping me a lot. He is this kind of person that wants to help, especially young players without experience. He is the guy that helps everyone.”
Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is hopeful that Willian will be able to make an immediate impact, saying: “I believe he’s a player that can really make a difference for us.
“We have been monitoring him for the past few months, we had a clear intention to strengthen in the attacking midfielder and the winger positions [and] he is a player that gives us a lot of versatility, he can play in three or four different positions.
