Frank Lampard’s first season in charge of Chelsea proved to be a success as the Blues’ young squad exceeded expectations in qualifying for the Champions League.

The challenge for the Blues boss is now to close the gap on the teams above them as he invests in the transfer market.

Hakim Ziyech, TImo Werner, Ben Chilwell and Malang Sarr have all come through the door at Stamford Bridge this summer, with Kai Havertz and Thiago Silva also close to signing.

The scale of Chelsea’s transformation cannot be resolved in one transfer window, though.

In fact, the regeneration process they are currently going through can be compared to what Manchester City and Liverpool went through before their rises to the top under Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp respectively.

Marina explains deal

Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia has revealed why the club have signed Malang Sarr.

Sarr has become the fourth signing of the summer transfer window at Chelsea, sealing a free transfer from Nice.

Having signed a five-year deal, Sarr is tipped to have a big future at Stamford Bridge and Granovskaia is excited.

“The opportunity to sign Malang was one we could not miss,” she told the club’s official website.
