Timo Werner needed just four minutes to get off the mark for Chelsea in their 1-1 friendly draw away at Brighton.
The German striker, who joined in a £54million switch from RB Leipzig this summer, was making his Blues debut at the Amex Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
And four minutes into the friendly he was presented with the perfect opportunity to open his account when Callum Hudson-Odoi headed Hakim Ziyech’s inch-perfect cross straight into his path.
Just a few yards out from goal, Werner was able to sweep the ball home and fire Chelsea in front on the South Coast – which Frank Lampard will hope is the first of many strikes from his new recruit.

While Blues fans were over the moon with his debut goal, however, it was Ziyech who soaked up most of the praise on social media for his superb cross into the box.
The Morocco international clearly has an eye for a pass, having registered 45 assists for Ajax over the last two seasons.

And the Chelsea faithful quickly took to Reddit to wax lyrical about his impressive contribution to Werner’s debut goal at Brighton.
One wrote: “Unbelievable ball from Ziyech there”.
“Look at Ziyech’s passing man,” said another.
A third Blues supporter commented: “4 minutes into it and Ziyech and Werner already showing their skills”.

While one simply claimed: “WE’RE GOING TO WIN EVERYTHING”.
After a bright start to his Chelsea career, Ziyech was forced off 10 minutes into the second half at the Amex with an injury.
