Chelsea are set to make a new offer for Edouard Mendy after their initial bid was rejected.
The Blues have been busy this summer with Frank Lampard being backed in the transfer market.
In his first year in charge, he led the club to fourth in the Premier League and an FA Cup final without being to sign anyone because of a transfer ban.
But he has been making up for lost time this summer with five arrivals already.
Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech, Ben Chilwell, Malang Sarr and Thiago Silva have signed for Chelsea.
However, Lampard is desperate to sign a goalkeeper after losing trust in Kepa Arrizabalaga.

According to the Guardian, Rennes star Mendy is wanted at Stamford Bridge to replace the Spaniard.
An initial bid of around £15m was made for the 28-year-old but the French club turned it down outright.
Chelsea are keen on landing their man and the report goes on to state that a new bid of just under £18m will be made.
The Guardian further state that Rennes maintain they do not want to lose Mendy this summer.
They only signed him last summer from Reims and have been thoroughly impressed by his ability.
However, they are interested in taking on Blues defender Fikayo Tomori on loan – who may drop down the pecking order after the arrival of Silva.

Lampard has other targets should Chelsea not be able to sign Mendy from Rennes.
And the Englishman has Ligue 1 stoppers in his sights with Paris St-Germain ace Alphonse Areola and Lille’s Mike Maignan included.
Jan Oblak is a dream target at Stamford Bridge but Atletico Madrid would consider nothing less than his release clause – which stands at £109m.
