Chelsea transfer target Kai Havertz appears to have taken another step towards sealing a move to Stamford Bridge.

The 21-year-old Germany international failed to report for Bayer Leverkusen’s training session on Sunday, reports in Germany claim.

The midfielder attended mandatory coronavirus testing on Friday and Saturday, which was a necessary requirement for him to link-up with the Germany squad for their upcoming Uefa Nations League fixtures with Spain and Switzerland next week.

However, it is reported that the midfielder did not attend Leverkusen training on Sunday along with the rest of his teammates, once again sparking claims that he will soon seal a move to Stamford Bridge. understands that Chelsea are very close to finally securing a deal to land their long-term target, with the Blues having been locked in negotiations with Leverkusen for several weeks.

It is expected that Chelsea are to reach an agreement with the Bundesliga club for a fee in the region of £80million, with the rest to be paid in add-ons.
