Man Utd’s reasons for snubbing Chelsea signing Kai Havertz emerge

Manchester United were linked with a move for Kai Havertz but reportedly had no intention of paying Bayer Leverkusen’s asking price.

The playmaker was identified as a potential alternative to top target Jadon Sancho but, according to the Manchester Evening News, the club focused all their efforts on signing Sancho while Chelsea swooped for Havertz.

The German international ultimately completed a £71m move to Stamford Bridge and United have made just one signing this summer, Donny van de Beek from Ajax.

Havertz has labelled his move to Chelsea a “dream come true”, saying: “I am very happy and proud to be here.
