Chelsea’s big summer spending looks to continue as they reportedly get close to securing yet another signing this transfer window.
The Blues are close to securing a deal to sign Rennes goalkeeper, Edouard Mendy.
The 28-year old Senegalese international is expected to arrive at Stamford Bridge ‘within days or the next few weeks’ according to The Athletic.
Chelsea have been targeting a new goalkeeper for some time now and are looking to bring Mendy in as direct competition for Kepa Arrizabalaga.
The Blues have already had an offer worth £14 million rejected by Rennes, but negotiations between the two clubs are ongoing and an agreement should be reached soon.
Chelsea have also looked at other targets such as Jan Oblak, Andre Onana and Nick Pope but with Kepa now likely to remain, Mendy is seen as the best option for right now.
Another new week, and potentially another new signing at Chelsea!
