Chelsea transfer news and rumours live: Batshuayi move confirmed, Edouard Mendy update

Whites handed transfer prediction boost

The common consensus is that most are reserving judgement over how Chelsea will do this season until the new signings are seen in action.

Whilst the Blues have had a terrific transfer window, there are still question marks over how the likes of Timo Werner, Kai Havertz and Hakim Ziyech will gel together and fare in the Premier League.

Yet Shaka Hislop believes that the signings are so talented that the Blues should not have much concern over whether they gel or not.

“We don’t know how well all of these players will gel,” he conceded when talking to ESPN FC.

“But the truth is, they’re that talented that they don’t have to gel that well to finish third.

“If they gel seamlessly and all those players play at the levels we think they can, then all of a sudden we’re talking about Liverpool and City having an issue.

“I don’t think that’ll be the case, just as I don’t think it’ll be the case they won’t gel and they’ll finish outside of the top four.

“I think it’ll be somewhere in the middle.

“I like exactly what Frank Lampard did last season, had to make some brave decisions, had to endure poor form, rode his luck at times, but it’s all starting to come together for Lampard as a manager and Chelsea as a team.

“I can see them finishing third.”
