Timo Werner and Kai Havertz start, Reece James in – Predicted Chelsea team vs Brighton

Chelsea get their 2020/21 Premier League campaign under way tonight with a trip to Brighton & Hove Albion.

There is a lot of excitement among Blues supporters ahead of the season, with new signings having bolstered the squad Frank Lampard has built.

The question for the Blues boss will be how he can fit his new players into the team along with those who impressed last season.

There are some injury issues for the Blue, with Hakim Ziyech, Ben Chilwell and Thiago Silva all out, but Christian Pulisic and Cesar Azpilicueta have returned after their hamstring problems in the FA Cup.

“Hakim Ziyech took an injury to his knee against Brighton in the friendly game, so he won’t be fit for Brighton,” Lampard said in his pre-match press conference.

“We hope it’s a matter of weeks, but we’ll have to see on that one a little bit.

“Ben Chilwell is working towards fitness, he won’t be fit for Brighton, he’s developed and improved and is going in right direction.

“Thiago Silva is now in London but won’t be training with us until the weekend, so I doubt very much he’ll be in contention for the Brighton game.

“I am very happy to have them both [Pulisic and Azpilicueta] back. They both trained since yesterday, their first day fully training with the team. They are in contention for Monday.

“I have to be careful. I have a squad to pick from, but the way they are training and the attitude they have come back with looks like they are over those injuries.
