The Blues opened their account for the season with a 3-1 win over Brighton at the AMEX Stadium on Monday night, thanks to goals from Jorginho, Reece James and Kurt Zouma.
Summer signings Kai Havertz and Timo Werner made their full debuts on the south coast, with Werner winning the penalty for Chelsea’s first goal.
But Blues head coach Frank Lampard was without several of his key players for the game, with Hakim Ziyech, Thiago Silva, Ben Chilwell all missing through injury or lack of fitness.

And the England international appears to be on track, after returning to full training with his teammates.
The official Chelsea Twitter account posted a picture of the left-back alongside fellow summer arrival Thiago Silva.

“We had to do some of the more difficult things – resilience, throwing yourself in front of the ball, so I’m pleased.
