Liverpool and Chelsea transfer plans could be affected by Lautaro Martinez to Barcelona

Barcelona are reportedly readying a final offer to sign Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez and the potential deal could have a knock-on effect for both Liverpool and Chelsea.

The Catalan giants are long-term admirers of Martinez but it appeared unlikely that they would be able to make a move for him this summer due to the financial effects of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

However, after shifting the likes of Arturo Vidal, Luis Suarez and Nelson Semedo in recent weeks, Spanish outlet Marca are reporting that the club are set to make a final offer to Inter.

The report claims around £64m has been slashed from Barcelona’s wage bill and the money raised from the departures of Vidal, Suarez, Semedo, Ivan Rakitic and Arthur will be used in their offer for Martinez.

Inter have been steadfast in their £90m valuation of the Argentinian and if Barcelona do meet the asking price and conclude the deal then they will be unable to strengthen in other positions.

They have been heavily linked with a move for Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum, who is yet to agree a new contract with the defending Premier League champions.
