Chelsea fans noticed what happened to Malang Sarr after making his Porto debut vs Man City

Malang Sarr has made his first appearance for Porto since joining on loan in the summer transfer window.

The Chelsea centre-back was named in the Porto starting line-up in their Champions League opener against Manchester City on Wednesday night and managed to play 80 minutes at the Etihad Stadium.

Sarr was one of seven first-team signings at Stamford Bridge this summer, but he along with fellow defender Thiago Silva were the only two that arrived on free transfers.

And whilst the Brazilian along with Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner, Ben Chilwell, Kai Havertz and Edouard Mendy will play a key role for head coach Frank Lampard this season, Sarr has been loaned out to aid his development.

The France U21’s move to Porto was announced earlier in the month and got his first chance to impress on Wednesday.

Despite being on the wrong side of a 3-1 scoreline, some Chelsea fans were encouraged with what they saw from Sarr who lined up on the left-side of a back three.

His performance has garnered a big reaction on Reddit.

Brandonpayton1 said: “He looked really composed and confident in all his decisions. Only one game in and he looked really good. Hope he can continue to impress with his coolness.

“Champions league is the perfect place for that probably. I questioned why Porto when it happened but when I realised they’re in the CL it made sense.”

“Notice at about the 44-second mark when he makes a really clean block. His positioning is pretty damn good, I can bet u Zouma is diving in there.
