Edinson Cavani has hinted that he will make his Manchester United debut against Chelsea on Saturday – admitting it will be a “great experience” to line up against former Paris St-Germain team-mate Thiago Silva.
Cavani joined United on a free transfer in the summer window after leaving PSG upon the expiry of his contract, but he is yet to make his first appearance for the club.
The Uruguay striker was forced to undergo a quarantine period after arriving in the UK earlier this month, meaning Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was unable to select him away at Newcastle last weekend.

He was then left out of United’s squad to face former club PSG on Tuesday, watching on as Marcus Rashford’s late goal earned his new team a 2-1 victory at the Parc des Princes.
Having spent the last week going through the gears at Carrington, Cavani could make his long-awaited Red Devils debut in their crunch clash with top-four rivals Chelsea at Old Trafford.

And ahead of the game, the 33-year-old has admitted he is looking forward to a reunion with ex-colleague Silva – who also sealed a free move to England in the summer with the Blues.
“It will be great to be able to find him on the pitch,” Cavani told EN24 News.

“Thiago is very professional, because he works so hard in training and in the pre-match warm-ups. Well, it won’t be easy!
“It will be complicated because he is a very good central defender and an excellent footballer.
“But it will still be a great experience.”
