Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jermaine Jenas believes Chelsea’s supporters were offered a sample of what is to come from Hakim Ziyech after he scored his first goal for the club in the Blues’ 4-0 win over FC Krasnodar on Wednesday evening.
After stepping off the bench in each of Chelsea’s last three matches, Ziyech, signed from Dutch giants Ajax, was awarded his first start for the club, lining up in a front-three alongside Timo Werner and Callum Hudson-Odoi.
After showing glimpses of his talents down the right flank in the first half, the Moroccan international opened his goal scoring account for his new club with just over 10 minutes remaining, scoring from close range to fire Chelsea into a commanding 3-0 advantage.
It capped off an excellent night’s work for the versatile attacker, who was replaced by Tammy Abraham just moments later.

Having now got his first Chelsea start and goal under his belt, Jenas is confident that this will be just the start for the former Ajax star.
“You know what, I thought he had some really good moments in there, Ziyech,” Jenas told BT Sport. “In the first half he was getting better as the half went on.
“I mentioned the fact that fitness for him is of most importance right now, he is a player that relies a lot on his sharpness and you can see the quick feet in the tight areas.
“He is going to be a good player for Chelsea and he is a man that thoroughly enjoyed seeing that third goal go in for Chelsea.”
Ziyech was Chelsea’s first major signing of the summer, which acted as the catalyst for what was to come, as the likes of Ben Chilwell, Kai Havertz, Edouard Mendy and Werner soon followed.
