Thiago Silva left out of Chelsea’s Champions League trip as Christian Pulisic prediction is made

Here’s all the news from around Stamford Bridge over the past 24 hours.

Frank Lampard discusses the player that will likely benefit from Thiago Silva omission

Thiago Silva has not been included as part of Frank Lampard’s 22-man squad to face Krasnodar, and Frank Lampard has named the player that will likely benefit.

The Brazilian international will remain in London as the Blues boss prepares for a number of changes ahead of the Champions League meeting.

Silva’s absence means one of Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen or Fikayo Tomori would likely partner Kurt Zouma at the heart of the defence.

If it was Rudiger it would see the German welcomed in from the cold after a summer of uncertainty at the club.

It’s the first time the 27-year-old has made back-to-back Chelsea matchday squads this season, with his return to the fold coinciding with reports suggesting he held heart-to-heart talks with head coach Frank Lampard .

“I’ve had discussions. I saw the story,” Lampard said in his pre-match press conference . “I’ve always had a positive relationship with him.

“Sometimes players are out of the squad but he is very much in contention to play.”
