Billy Gilmour embarrasses Chelsea co-star Timo Werner with cheeky training ground footage

Chelsea star Billy Gilmour has wasted no time getting comfortable in training in his injury return, embarrassing team-mate Timo Werner in training.

The Scottish teenager has been out since the start of July after picking up a knee injury.

Frank Lampard had been giving the 19-year-old a chance in the midfield, making four senior appearances since lockdown.

A lot has now changed for Gilmour after the club spent £200m in there transfer window, bringing in players such as forward Werner.

But images have emerged from the Blues’ training sessions which show the midfielder is already getting comfortable with his new team-mates.

The Scot shared two images on his Instagram story during a rondo drill with the goal-scorer who arrived from RB Leipzig this summer for £50m.

His first image shows Gilmour putting the ball past Werner, appearing to have put it through the 24-year-old’s legs, while using eye emojis.

While the second one shows the German with an embarrassed look on his face, looking up into the air after being outsmarted.

And the 19-year-old has a huge smile on his face, accompanying the snap with laughing emojis.

The midfielder is not expected to be part of Chelsea’s squad to face Burnley at Turf Moor – but fans could see the youngster soon after the manager’s latest fitness update.

“Billy’s working really well, he’s probably three weeks away from his return,” Lampard said.

“He’s working outside on his own with the physios still, we hope that he’ll integrate with either ourselves or the Under-23s to get some training minutes.
