There was so much excitement about the transfers of Hakim Ziyech, Kai Havertz and Timo Werner this summer that the less glamorous move of Edouard Mendy to Stamford Bridge got relatively little airtime.
In fact, after a really impressive start to life at Chelsea, the goalkeeper already has the most impressive record of perhaps all of them.
He kept a clean sheet again today, meaning he’s yet to concede in the Premier League after 3 games played.
The last Blue to do that? Oh, just a guy named Petr Cech. Things worked out pretty well for him too.
Edouard Mendy is the first Chelsea goalkeeper to keep a clean sheet in their first three Premier League games since Petr Čech in 2004.

The credit must go to his defenders in part too – Thiago Silva has been immaculate ever since his early mistake on his Premier League debut – but Mendy has been a rock behind them.
In attack we were impressive today too – but it all began with the confidence flowing from the man between the posts.
