Frank Lampard will have spent the past 24 hours assessing his players’ fatigue levels after they returned from Russia in the early hours of Thursday morning but Thiago Silva will return to the heart of defence for this afternoon’s trip to Burnley.
The Brazilian was spared the long trip, while N’Golo Kante and Christian Pulisic are in line to return to the starting XI having been introduced as substitutes in the 4-0 win over Krasnodar.
Chelsea could see all six major summer signings start in the same game for the first time with Edouard Mendy and Ben Chilwell seemingly guaranteed to start.

Hakim Ziyech impressed against Krasnodar in his first start following a knee injury and should retain his place, while Kai Havertz and Timo Werner both delivered impressive performances in that Champions League trip.
Callum Hudson-Odoi and Mateo Kovacic seem the most likely to be sacrificed should Pulisic and Kante return and do not be surprised to see Reece James come in for captain Cesar Azpilicueta at right back. Toni Rudiger is more likely than Kurt Zouma to drop out for Thiago Silva.
The other big question is whether Lampard sticks with a 4-2-3-1 or tries the 4-3-3 system that worked so well in the second period on Wednesday. If the latter then expect Mason Mount to replace Jorginho as well, with Havertz dropping back into a loose No8 role.
“We don’t have any clear injuries but it’s a tired group,” Lampard said at his pre-match press conference. “We arrived back quite late in the early hours of [Thursday] morning.
“So I’ll have to assess everybody, as much tomorrow as today, and see how everyone settles down over the next 24 hours and we’ll see where we’re at.”
