Alan Shearer applauds ‘constant threat’ Hakim Ziyech after stellar performance at Burnley

Alan Shearer was full of praise for Chelsea star Hakim Ziyech following his stellar performance during Chelsea’s victory away at Burnley on Saturday.

The Moroccan international scored Chelsea’s first and assisted another at Turf Moor, with Kurt Zouma and Timo Werner also finding the net to register a 3-0 victory against the Lancashire outfit.

Ziyech was the creative heartbeat of Frank Lampard ‘s side, and became the first player since Ruben Neves in 2018 to get both a goal and an assist on his first Premier League start.

Speaking on Match of the Day, Shearer did not hold back in his praise of the 27-year-old, highlighting the creative threat he adds to Lampard’s squad.

“He did exceptionally well,” Shearer said.

“He’s struggled with injuries to get into the team, scored in midweek in the Champions League which would have given him great confidence and I thought he was the best player for Chelsea today.

“He was creating, he was scoring, he was just a constant threat all afternoon. He just sends Pope the wrong way, did have to do his bit of defensive work and did that very well.

“He was given a bit of freedom, if he wants to have a roam he can do that because Kante is there if he does lose the ball and he was a constant, full of confidence.
