Former Chelsea centre-back Frank Leboeuf believes it would be “sad for the Premier League” if Tottenham Hotspur were to win the title this season.
Spurs moved to second in the table with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday evening at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Having seen Harry Kane’s first half penalty cancelled out by Tariq Lamptey’s first Premier League goal, Spurs responded through Gareth Bale’s first goal since returning to the club in September to snatch all three points.
The win over the Seagulls was Jose Mourinho’s side’s third win in their last four outings, lifting them to within two points of current table-toppers Liverpool.

However, despite having climbed their way into second-place after six Premier League outings, Spurs’ style of play is continuing to receive criticism from some corners, though they are winning games and scoring goals.
And one person who believes Spurs’ style of play is not worthy of winning the title is former Chelsea defender Leboeuf, insisting it would be “sad” if Spurs were to win the title this season.
“No, no, no [Spurs can’t win the title], hopefully not,” Leboeuf told ESPN FC,” as quoted by the Express.
“If Tottenham, playing like that, win the title I think it’s going to be sad for the Premier League.
