Frank Lampard has confirmed that Christian Pulisic will miss tomorrow’s Champions League Group E game at home to Rennes but the American winger has already returned to training after a scan showed only minor damage to his hamstring.
Pulisic pulled up with an issue during the warm up away to Burnley on Saturday, with Timo Werner replacing him on the left wing in the 3-0 win.
But Lampard has ruled out that he will be missing for a sustained spell.

“Christian had a scan yesterday which showed a very, very minor injury to his hamstring,” the head coach said. “He’s already back outside. Heon’t be fit for tomorrow but we’ll see after that.
“It’s obviously a relief for it to be on the small side. He made the right decision not to attempt to play. He’s an important player for us.”
Chelsea will be looking to build on last week’s 4-0 win away to Krasnodar against the Ligue 1 side from whom they signed Edouard Mendy in September.
Lampard said of the goalkeeper: “It’s always must be a collective but when you perform individually as he has, he’s made a very good start here at the club and brought confidence to those around him. He should take credit along with others.”
Marcos Alonso is available following suspension while Billy Gilmour has returned to training but is still a couple of weeks away from being sharp enough to feature.
Rennes could be without their teenage superstar midfielder Eduardo Camavinga because of a thigh injury despite the 17-year-old, who became the youngest player to get a senior France cap in 106 years, returning to training this morning.
Faitout Maouassa, M’Baye Niang, Flavien Tait and Daniele Rugani are also expected to miss the trip to Stamford Bridge. Steven N’Zonzi is more likely to play after recovering from a knock.
