Joe Cole has criticised under-fire Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for not improving his side in the way Frank Lampard has done at Chelsea.
Lampard spent big to sign a number of top players during the summer, including Timo Werner, Kai Havertz and Edouard Mendy.
The latter has undoubtedly improved Chelsea’s defence since coming into the side last month, with the Blues having recorded five clean sheets in a row for the first time in ten years.
Cole, speaking to BT Sport ahead of United’s match at Everton, highlighted Solskjaer’s failure to engineer genuine change in the same way during a similar period of time.

“He’s had 100 games now, I’m just likening it to Chelsea,” he said.
“With Frank, you can see the steps and the improvements, little things going, but at Man United, if you look at now and when he took over, I don’t think they’ve improved in the team.
“You’ve still got the same underlying problems with the same players, with the same attitudes, and there’s a reason why they lose one, and win a couple – because of their inconsistencies which we’ll look at later.”
United were 15th in the Premier League table going into Saturday’s match at Goodison Park, having won just two of their opening six matches.
