Hakim Ziyech has been the man of the moment for Chelsea fans in recent weeks.
Other players got all the attention in the early part of the season, but since the first moment the Morocco star stepped on the pitch after returning from injury he’s shone brighter than anyone.
Ashley Cole knows a thing or two about taking on right wingers, and in quotes picked up by the Chelsea official website he outlined just how good he thinks the former Ajax man is:
“He has come back now and he looks fit, he looks like he is enjoying the way Frank plays, and enjoying playing with his team-mates here. He is using that wand of a left foot to perfection at times and he pulled the strings [against Sheffield United]. So I think he is a big player for Chelsea.”
There’s no doubting that – in fact the way he slots in nicely on the right wing with Reece James overlapping outside him couldn’t really work any better.
There will be tactical questions for Frank Lampard to figure out when Kai Havertz is back, but for now he already has his “big player” as Ashley puts it, and we’re creating plenty of chances even without the guy with a bigger price tag on the pitch.
