Why pitting Mason Mount against Jack Grealish for England spot is unfair

Jack Grealish is one of the best English players of his age group and yet England manager Gareth Southgate has seemingly needed more convincing than most of his international credentials.

Southgate has more than once spoken about how Mason Mount’s pressing makes him a better fit for his England system than Grealish, putting the Chelsea midfielder directly against the Aston Villa man in the minds of many fans and pundits.

England face Republic of Ireland in a friendly fixture at Wembley Stadium. Considering James won’t be able to play in the next two games, the Chelsea right back can count on featuring in some capacity on Thursday night.
