Reece James is the man of the moment – well, one of them at least.
The full back has cemented himself as Chelsea’s starting option on the right this season, and has now stepped up to England duty too.
It’s meant he’s been catapulted to stardom, and he’s already using that new status to good effect. The 20 year old had a really nice interview in The Athletic talking about his season so far, and it had some great quotes about his new teammates too.
On Thiago Silva he says he’s brought “a lot of experience… he has helped me a lot.”
The pair certainly give the defence a far more solid look than we’ve become accustomed to in the last 12 months.
Then there’s Hakim Ziyech, his partner in running the Blues’ right flank:
“Ever since he arrived, we got on well. I knew I would be playing behind him. We clicked early and tried to build this connection.”
It’s evident on the pitch the progress they’ve already made, and the damage they could do in the future makes us extremely excited.
In reality, despite how long ago Ziyech signed, their minutes together on the pitch have still been limited, and by the end of this season they might have taken things up another whole gear.
