Frank Lampard has found N’Golo Kante’s perfect midfield partners at Chelsea

For much of the beginning of the season, Frank Lampard struggled to find the right balance to his Chelsea side.

The Blues boss would go for the 4-2-3-1 formation, trying to get the best out of his new forwards and looking for them to gel.

However, what it also did leave the defence exposed, with the Blues midfield of two being separated too far apart from each other.

For the past few games, Lampard has changed direction with his set-up and gone back to the 4-3-3 formation.

It has been a success as well, with the Blues looking balanced in attack and defence, with one key reason being the answer.

Having N’Golo Kante in the more defensive position allows him to protect the back four, while Lampard is also able to play two, more attacking, number eights.

The key for the Blues boss was having the right players next to Kante, and he seems to have found the perfect partners in Mason Mount and Kai Havertz.
