Roman Abramovich’s involvement in Chelsea training and preparation may surprise fans

Roman Abramovich’s involvement at Chelsea has been revealed by former Blues boss Antonio Conte.

Russian billionaire Abramovich has been the top dog at Stamford Bridge since 2003 when he his companies took over the club from Ken Bates.

The Russian business mogul has invested heavily in Chelsea over the years, and was an ever-present during their best years.

But speculation that Abramovich was planning to sell Chelsea surfaced around a year ago, suggesting he was no longer as involved with club proceedings.

However, Italian coach Conte, who won the Premier League in his first season in charge before being sacked the following year, has revealed the extent Abramovich would go to to be involved in the day-to-day running of the club.

“It’s always very difficult when there is a stop between the club and the coach,” Conte told The Telegraph. “I think never, never the club try to explain the decision. But in our job we must accept this type of situation.

“To be the coach of Chelsea is not simple. You must live with great pressure, especially from the outside, but it was a pity to stop my coaching after only two seasons because I created a real link with the fans and with the players.
