“It is frankly not fair”

It was always going to be an impossible issue for Frank Lampard to keep every single one of his players entirely happy this season.

There will be a number of players already concerned and unhappy with their lack of game time even in these early stages. Of course, more game time will come as the season goes on and gets busier, but some of these players will already be needing more minutes and having an eye on the European Championships coming up this summer.

One of those players is France international Olivier Giroud, who has been on fire for his country in recent matches. But he will know that might not be enough for him to keep his regular spot in the national side, and as a result it looks like he may well be asking Chelsea to leave again this January.

His Agent, Michael Manuello, has been speaking out on the issues, as reported by GFFN.

He said:

“There have been €150m worth of players bought. It is not the same to play with Ziyech, Havertz, Werner than playing without them. So we need to relativise this. But at the same time you’d be blind not to see that Frank Lampard has decided to put Tammy Abraham ahead of him.

“It is not frankly fair when you look at what Olivier did at the end of the season. But he has the right, it is his choice.

“So effectively if things continue like this, in December we will find ourselves where we were in December 2019. Things have happened in the last 5 months. We cannot just look at the last two months and be forgetful about the 3 years that came before it.

“But we have to be honest and if this continues, we will have to, first and foremost for him [Giroud], experience other emotions.”
