Frank Lampard has said he will continue to manage N’Golo Kante’s fitness carefully despite the Chelsea defensive midfielder looking back at his best.
The French star missed large parts of Lampard’s first season in charge with hamstring and muscle injuries over the course of 2019/20 limiting him to just 20 Premier League starts.
His absence was no doubt felt in the middle of the park and in front of the defence, with Kante having established himself as one of the best in Europe in his position.
After helping Leicester City to an unlikely title, he moved to Chelsea and was key figure in the title-winning side under Antonio Conte.

And having started this season in impressive fashion, the Blues moved top of the pile with a comfortable 2-0 win against Newcastle United on Saturday.
Kante delivered an excellent performance at the base of the midfield providing a shield in front of the defence and allowing Antonio Rudiger greater comfort on his return to the first-team. France international Kante made three interceptions – more than any other Blues player – and was also a team leader in terms of completed tackles with four.
“Last year he missed 50 per cent of the games with injuries, he had a tough time for different reasons and we are working very hard on that to get him as fit and fresh,” said Lampard.
“Now we are managing his training and game time, but his levels of performances are really high.
“I keep saying every time I get asked about N’Golo that I have so much faith in him and the top midfield player that he is in world football.
“Not just breaking up and winning balls back as we know that is a huge quality of his, but his passing and supporting in midfield and playing in that deeper role now has been a very comfortable transition for him as he’s…
