Mason Mount says Chelsea team-mate Thiago Silva has given him advice as he targets title

Chelsea star Mason Mount says he has been taking advice from new team-mate Thiago Silva as the club target Champions League and Premier League glory.

Frank Lampard’s side top their Champions League group after three wins from three and can secure a knock-out spot if they win at Rennes on Tuesday.

And they could go top of the Premier League if they beat leaders Tottenham at Stamford Bridge on Sunday – depending on Liverpool’s result against Brighton the day before.

Mount revealed he has been picking the brains of Thiago, who joined on a free transfer this summer after helping Paris-Saint Germain to seven Ligue 1 titles.

Asked whether he is learning from new signings such as Thiago, Kai Havertz and Timo Werner, the 21-year-old told a press conference: “Yeah, we all learn stuff off each other.

“I think when you have players like them two [Havertz and Werner] coming in, and Thiago Silva, that’s been through a lot and been at the top of thee game for a long time, you can gain so much experience off just talking to him and speaking to him for five minutes here and there.”

On Thiago, Mount added: “He’s a brilliant player and has been through it all so players like that coming into this team really helps us.

“It especially helps us younger players that are coming through and it gives us a lot of experience.”

While Chelsea finished fourth last season to earn their place in the Champions League, Mount says he and his team-mates are not content to aim for a top-four spot.
