Callum Hudson-Odoi put the Blues a goal to the good in the first-half, before the French side equalised in the second period.

Then, in stoppage time, Olivier Giroud – who came on in the second-half – scored the winning goal and ensured Frank Lampard’s team progressed from their group, alongside Sevilla.

Now, with just over a month until the January transfer window, the west London club could have half an eye on any potential deals.

Rice speaks out on future ambitions

Declan Rice has admitted he is in a hurry for trophies, amid rumours that he could be joining Chelsea.

The West Ham United and England star was heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge over the summer, and the Blues have been tipped to make an official move in January.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Rice opened up on his ambitions: “As a footballer you only get one career and it goes by very quick.

‘You want to be successful for club and country. I think it’s an important thing to win trophies. There’s talk of Harry Kane at Spurs and what he should be doing, obviously he can do whatever he wants. He’s going to win trophies we all know that.”
