Chelsea’s impressive form at the start of the 2020/21 season can be partly put down to their busy summer transfer window.

The Blues spent more than £200million, with seven new players arriving at Stamford Bridge at the start of the campaign.

Lampard surprised by Silva contract talks rumours

Chelsea boss Lampard is surprised by reports suggesting Thiago Silva is in talks with the club over extending his contract.

Silva arrived at Stamford Bridge in the summer on a one-year deal and has impressed so far – prompting rumours that he is set to extend his stay in London.

However, Lampard has played down those rumours: “Obviously the way he’s playing at the minute, we are very happy.

“So that’s the end of it really. I’m surprised it’s come out in that way. We have the option in his contract.”

Blues suffer Coutinho blow

Philippe Coutinho has ruled out a move away from Barcelona right now, amid links with a switch to Chelsea.

The Brazil international – who has previous experience in the Premier League with Liverpool – has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, as well as Arsenal and Juventus, but when talking to World Football, the Barca man offered an update on his future with the club.
