Tammy Abraham limps off after brave but wasteful performance » Chelsea News

Tammy Abraham has just been taken off for Chelsea against Liverpool, and while it looked like a tactical move to introduce Olivier Giroud, it was notable that the forward was limping as he left the field on the far side, helped off by Mason Mount.

The striker had a big impact on the game, not quite able to get the better of Joe Rodon, but still working as we’ve come to expect and heading away several dangerous Spurs set pieces at the other end.

Plenty of less patient fans were frustrated by his finishing, but he’s in the team on merit, let’s not forget. His goals and assist have been crucial in recent games.

It wasn’t his day in front of goal, but his importance to the team was underlined once again, and there will be major fears about his fitness now.

It didn’t look too serious, and Giroud is good cover. But even without a goal, today showed why the system works with him up front.
