Chelsea player ratings: Oliver Giroud perfect with four goals as Christian Pulisic struggles

Edouard Mendy

Was called into action once in the first half and he made an excellent stop to deny Sevilla from close range. Good with his feet once again.

Not really tested too much in the second half, but was solid with crosses into he box and did his job well. 7

Cesar Azpilicueta

One nice pass to set up an attack in the first half, and defensively he was very solid and worked hard. However, a bit rusty on the ball and didn’t make too much of an impact going forward.

His defending in the second half was superb and he read the game excellently. Exactly what his boss would have wanted. 8

Andreas Christensen

Looked very nervy when the ball was put into the box from free-kicks and corners. Hasn’t played much this season and it took him time to really get into the game.

In the second half he looked a lot more in control and Sevilla really had very little to go on. Much better in his role, although sometimes his positioning wasn’t quite right. 7

Antonio Rudiger

Like Christensen, the only time that the back four were threatened was from set-pieces. Apart from that, the German was very good in the tackle and mopping up the win.

Really excellent in the second half, being in the right place at the right time and putting in a solid display as he controlled the defence. 8

A pretty solid display in the first half. Didn’t get forward too much but he did a decent job on his flank and Sevilla didn’t have any attacks.

A bit more adventurous in the second half and got forward well. Worked really hard and was solid in the position. 7

Mateo Kovacic

Some really nice play on the ball and trademark runs through midfield. Really was solid throughout the first half, except for one sloppy foul that gave Sevilla a good chance.

In the second half he was a lot more threatening with his runs…
