Chelsea monitoring White’s progress

Chelsea are reportedly among a number of clubs monitoring the progress of Ben White at Brighton and Hove Albion.

Per Sky Sports, White, who has started all 10 Premier League games for Brighton this season and has greatly impressed, has attracted interest from Chelsea, Manchester United, and Spurs, all of whom view him as a long-term anchor of their respective defences.

Chelsea signed Thiago Silva in the summer but could be on the lookout for a more sustained solution to last season’s defensive vulnerability.

White had previously been linked with Liverpool, though the report states that the Reds have “no interest” in him, despite their wretched injury issues at the position.

The 23-year-old rose to prominence by earning promotion with Leeds United last season. Leeds had a £25million bid rejected in the summer and he then signed a new long-term contract with Brighton.
