Chelsea ‘testing the waters’ over £27.1million goalkeeper transfer despite Edouard Mendy success

Chelsea remain interested in Udinese goalkeeper Juan Musso despite Edouard Mendy’s impressive start to life at Stamford Bridge.

That’s according to Mundo Udinese, who say Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain are ‘testing the waters’ over the goalkeeper, who is valued at €30m (£27.1m).

Chelsea only signed Mendy from Rennes in the summer amid Kepa Arrizabalaga’s struggles and the Senegal international has been excellent so far.

Mendy has conceded just four goals in his first 13 games across all competitions, keeping five clean sheets from his first Premier League appearances.

But reports claim the Blues could still look to strengthen the goalkeeping department.

It’s claimed Musso, who was linked with Chelsea all the way back in March, could still be on the Blues’ radar with suggestions Kepa could be on his way out of the club.

Kepa only joined from Athletic Club in 2018 for a mammoth fee for £71.6 million but amid poor form, he could be about to be replaced as Chelsea’s number two, having already been replaced as number one.

The report claims Udinese are tracking Pordenone goalkeeper Samuele Perisan amid interest in their star stopper Musso from Chelsea and PSG.

Just whether Chelsea would spend such a large fee on another goalkeeper having already spent around £22million on Mendy will likely depend on any sale of Kepa.
