Gary Neville names the two Chelsea players which gives them a title advantage over Tottenham

Former Manchester United captain Gary Neville believes Chelsea have a better chance of winning the Premier League title than Tottenham Hotspur this season because of the presence of Thiago Silva and N’Golo Kante within the team.

After finishing fourth in Frank Lampard’s maiden season in charge at Stamford Bridge last term, Chelsea made the decision to loosen the purse strings during the summer transfer window in an effort to turn them back into genuine Premier League title contenders once again.

In total, the Blues spent more than £220million on seven new signings, including the big-money arrivals of the likes of Ben Chilwell, Kai Havertz and Timo Werner.

Though Chelsea’s summer recruitment drive was impressive, there was fears that Lampard would take several months to get his new players integrated into the system and singing from the same hymn sheet from those already at the club.

However, Chelsea have defied the odds so far, announcing themselves as genuine title contenders once again, with Saturday evening’s 3-1 win over Leeds United taking them to the top of the table before being replaced by Tottenham at the summit on Sunday.

Despite Spurs’ 2-0 win over Arsenal taking them top, albeit on goal-difference ahead of Liverpool, Neville believes Chelsea, based on what he has seen in recent weeks, are better positioned to lay their hands on the title opposed to Jose Mourinho’s side.

“I’m impressed the more I see Chelsea, week by week,” he told the Gary Neville Podcast. “I think the performance last week went up in my estimations after what I’ve seen Tottenham do to City and Arsenal because it was a really measured performance, it was a clever performance and they should have won the game.
