Frank Lampard has provided an injury update on Ben Chilwell and Reece James with the duo defying the odds to start in Chelsea’s Premier League clash with Arsenal this evening.
James missed last week’s win over West Ham United through a knee injury, while Chilwell was forced off early on with an ankle injury, and it was thought both might miss the trip to the Emirates Stadium.
But the duo were present in Lampard’s starting XI, catching Chelsea fans by surprise, and before the game, the Blues boss explained the situation to Sky Sports.
“It’s good news because they have been in good form this season,” he said.

“With Reece, he has a knee that’s bothering him but he has been able to manage it at the moment, so that’s good and Chilly is playing with a bit of pain but haven’t we all with a bit of a swollen ankle or two.
“He has shown well in the last day or two so he has been passed fit.”
Chelsea will be back in action within 48 hours of their meeting with Arsenal, facing an in-form Aston Villa on Monday.
And Lampard was asked whether he thought about not taking the chance on his defensive duo with that next game in mind.

“I took both games into account but I don’t think you can come to Arsenal and get ahead of yourself because they are a good team,” he responded.
“No matter what the situation is, they are a talented team. We have seen it many times, they are in a tough situation which makes them even more dangerous.
“So, we come here and I have selected the best team I can for the team in front of us.
The Chelsea boss was also asked about Arsenal’s wretched run of form and whether he had to warn his players to take the Gunners seriously.
