Callum Hudson-Odoi in, Timo Werner decision – Chelsea predicted team vs Aston Villa

Frank Lampard will make wholesale changes for tonight’s game against Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge, with the Chelsea head coach evaluating which players recovered best from Saturday’s dismal defeat away to Arsenal.

Hakim Ziyech remains sidelined with a hamstring injury, while Reece James and Ben Chilwell faced Arsenal despite being troubled by knee and ankle issues.

Speaking after the 3-1 loss at the Emirates, Lampard said that he would have a conversation with striker Timo Werner over whether the Germany international feels that he needs a rest. The 24-year-old has now gone 10 games without a goal but was substituted at half-time.

Jorginho and Callum Hudson-Odoi are likely to start having improved Chelsea’s performance in the second period, while Kai Havertz will could come into midfield.

Lampard said he brought N’Golo Kante off in North London with Monday’s game in mind, suggesting there could potentially be a shift in formation due to the freshness of available personnel.

Olivier Giroud could replace Tammy Abraham up front and Thiago Silva may not be risked at centre back with Lampard previously saying that they needed to manage the Brazilian veteran’s playing load.
