Stats show Premier League’s best XI of 2020/21 excludes every Liverpool and Man Utd star

Statistics have shown that the Best Premier League XI of the season so far does not include any players from table topping rivals Liverpool and Manchester United.

Despite Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Jurgen Klopp leading their sides into the top two of the table as 2021 gets underway, data has shown that they might have better team cohesion than individual brilliance.

The likes of Bruno Fernandes and Mohamed Salah have both missed out on the spots which have been decided by Real Metric’s Match Rating Model which offers unique and advanced statistical data.

The figures are based on 150+ on-pitch events that impact player ratings, with the full side listed below.

Starting the side is Aston Villa stopper Emiliano Martinez, who has kept eight clean sheets across his 15 appearances in what has been a fine start to the new season.

He plays behind a back four of Ben Chilwell, Jan Bednarek, Kurt Zouma and Reece James, with three Chelsea players making the cut with the Blues conceding 21 goals across 17 matches.

Making the cut in midfield is a trio of Rodri, Kevin De Bruyne and James Ward-Prowse, with two Manchester City players joining a second Southampton star.

Up front is the exciting treble of Jack Grealish, Son Heung-Min and Harry Kane, having had a hand in 12, 17 and 22 goals respectively so far this season.
