Frank Lampard receives double injury boost ahead of Fulham vs Chelsea

Chelsea have received a double injury boost ahead of Saturday’s London derby with Fulham.

Heading into this weekend, starting right-back Reece James was a major doubt having missed Chelsea’s last three games with knee and hamstring injuries.

But it looks as though James is in contention to face Fulham having returned to full training ahead of the trip to Craven Cottage – the 21-year-old spotted on training videos on Tuesday.

James has enjoyed an excellent season so far, nailing down the starting spot at right-back over experienced full-back Cesar Azpilicueta.

His return will be a huge boost for Frank Lampard with Chelsea currently on a run of just one win in six league games, leaving them ninth in the table.

And it’s not the only boost Lampard will be aided by this weekend with centre-back Andreas Christensen understood to be available for the first time since late December following a knee injury.

Christensen is not currently first-choice under Lampard who has preferred Thiago Silva and Kurt Zouma as his centre-back partnership for the most part.

But the Dane’s return will still come as a boost for Lampard, who may opt to rotate following a very disappointing run of form that has left him under heavy pressure.

The Blues boss should have a full squad to pick from as long as N’Golo Kante shakes off a minor hamstring injury.
