Marco Van Ginkel has been at Chelsea for a long time, but never got the chance he deserves.

Injuries have blighted his career, and he’s just been out for a 32 month stretch. It’s been painful to watch him all but miss out on a career. The most recent contract Chelsea gave him was a sign of solidarity as much as anything else, keeping him at the club for a further few years of rehab and then loans.

That’s why it was so great to see him back on the pitch this week. He came on as a sub for PSV tonight in his first appearance since May of 2018. He’s always been a star for them when able to play, let’s hope he can get back to his best.
