Lucas Piazon leaves Chelsea on permanent transfer after nine and a half years at Stamford Bridge » Chelsea News

The saga is finally over – Lucas Piazon has signed permanently for Braga in Portugal, ending a nine and a half year association with Chelsea, the club’s official website today announced.

The midfielder arrived in 2012 and slotted straight into a youth team which he helped win the FA Youth Cup that year.

He then went on a true Odyssey across European loans – half a season in La Liga, a year in Germany, a year in Holland, a year in Italy, two back in the Championship, and then finally a spell at Rio Ave in Portugal.

That wasn’t the most glamorous place he had been, but he clearly fitted in well, because after 18 months in the Liga NOS he’s been snapped up by Braga, one of the bigger teams in the division, on a permanent deal.

It’s been clear for years that he wasn’t going to make it at Chelsea, but we gave him all the tools to succeed, chose good loans for him, and we wish him all the best now he’s finally at another club.

We’re just disappointed he couldn’t hold on and make it to a full decade here.
