Chelsea flop Kepa ‘one of a number of stars left baffled’ by Lampard’s lack of tactics

Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga was one of several stars who were left baffled by Frank Lampard’s supposed lack of tactics at Stamford Bridge.

According to a new report, multiple members of the first-team playing squad were confused by the lack of direction handed to the team by the former England midfielder.

Lampard, who was sacked by the club on Monday amid ‘no clear path to sustained improvement’, is set to be replaced by Thomas Tuchel before the visit of Wolves on Wednesday.

While details regarding the nature of Lampard’s relationship with his squad continue to emerge, it has been alleged that Kepa was one of those to have an issue.

The Athletic have reported that Kepa was one of several senior players that felt as though Lampard did not offer sufficient support or clear tactical instruction.

They add that it was left to director Marina Granovskaia and Petr Cech to help the club’s record signing through his ongoing poor run of form.

In addition, it is said that although talks between Lampard and Kepa improved at the start of the season, that communication came to an end following the arrival of Edouard Mendy.

“When I took on this role I understood the challenges that lay ahead in a difficult time for the football club.
