Here is your Chelsea morning digest for Wednesday, January 27.
Chelsea have confirmed the appointment of Thomas Tuchel as the club’s new head coach.
The 47-year-old, who has previously worked at Mainz, Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain, has signed an 18-month contract with the Blues with the “possibility” of an extension and will take charge of his first game on Wednesday when Wolverhampton Wanderers visit Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea turned to the German having made the decision to dismiss club legend Frank Lampard today. The Blues’ all-time leading scorer was sacked this morning after a wretched run of form in the Premier League.
Tuchel will be charged with immediately improving Chelsea’s results and getting the side back into contention for the Champions League positions.
