Chelsea have been left “disgusted” after Reece James became the latest Premier League star to receive sick racist abuse on social media.
Manchester United pair Axel Tuanzebe and Anthony Martial were subjected to similar treatment in midweek, both receiving a vile series of messages following their 2-1 defeat at home to Sheffield United.
The Red Devils released a statement condemning the abuse on Thursday, while also adding: “Identifying these anonymous mindless idiots remains problematic. We urge social media platforms and regulatory authorities to strengthen measures to prevent this kind of behaviour.”
And just one day later, James revealed he has also been targeted by sick trolls on Instagram.

The England star received an abhorrent set of messages after posting a picture of himself in training with Chelsea on Friday, which included monkey emojis and several racist remarks.
The Blues shortly released a statement to both support their academy graduate and condemn the “hateful and discriminatory actions” which are becoming rife on social media platforms.

“Everyone at Chelsea FC is disgusted with the racist abuse Reece James received on social media on Friday evening,” the statement read.
“This club finds racism and all forms of discriminatory behaviour completely unacceptable. We totally condemn it.
“In sport, as in wider society, we must create a social media environment where hateful and discriminatory actions are as unacceptable online as they would be on the street.
