Chelsea player ratings vs Burnley: Hudson-Odoi good, Werner wasteful in Tuchel’s first win

Edouard Mendy

Burnely didn’t have a shot on target all game so that tells you all you need to know. Another clean sheet. 6

Callum Hudson-Odoi

Got forward at will and always available on the right with diagonal passes. Crossing was accurate throughout. Another very good performance and taken off, perhaps with Spurs in mind next Thursday. Chelsea’s best player for a second match running. 8

Cesar Azpilicueta

Made a very brave run to overlap Hudson-Odoi and to then rifle into the top corner for the first goal of Tuchel’s reign. Defensively sound, though wasn’t really tested. 7

Antonio Rudiger

Coped fairly well with Chris Wood and Matej Vydra. Dominated Rodriguez when he came on. 7

Thiago Silva

No fuss, no problem. Job done. Barely ever looks troubled and makes the gae look so easy at times. 7

Marcos Alonso

A little slow to react to situations that developed down his side in the first half. Got forward more prominently after half time but Chelsea’s main success came down the opposite side. Then popped up with the second goal late on to seal it. Of course. 7

Dictated nicely, not really many threatening passes but he played a very good one to start the move that led to Azpilicueta’s goal. 6

Mateo Kovacic

More aggressive and direct with his passing than he was on Wednesday. Always available, always wanted the ball. Defensively he was very sound. 6

Mason Mount

Looked lively in the early going playing just behind the front two but he certainly didn’t have his shooting boots on, spurning three first half chances. Improved after the break, plenty of incisive passing but some shooting practice required in training next week. 7
