“He’s going to show Chilwell how to be a proper wingback”

Thomas Tuchel is well and truly in place at Chelsea now, and he’s making big decisions already.

There’s no bigger call in today’s lineup than the return of Marcos Alonso. The Spaniard was a total exile under Frank Lampard, and apparently fell out with the club legend too.

So this return marks a turning point, and just like everyone else he will now have a chance to impress the new gaffer. Ben Chilwell is going to be hard to displace as first choice at left back, especially given how much was spent on him, but he’s slowed down drastically in recent weeks and we understand the need for a change.

“He’s going to show Chilwell how to be a proper wingback” one user crowed, and while we still think the former Leicester man is going to end the season on top, having a bit of rotation and variety in the mix can only help.

You can see a selection of the reaction from Twitter here:

Alonso is baaaaack baby. He’s going to show Chilwell how to be a proper Wingback

Chilwell benched as well for alonso who can have worldies one game and 33 terrible games….

If you think chilwell wouldn’t be suited to a wing back position then you’re wrong.

2 games in – hoping he’s just finding his 11.

James HAS to feature soon

My god That’s Alonso’s music.

But yeah I would not be buying Chelsea players right now. @Zonal_Marking pointed out only 1 player in the 19/20 PSG season played over 80% of the minutes. There will be rotation. A core might emerge but which that will be…🤷‍♀️
