Thiago Silva played under Thomas Tuchel for two years in Paris, and now the pair find themselves re-united at Chelsea.
Luckily the parting between the two was amicable – in fact the rumours were that Tuchel wanted to keep the defender for another year – because now they’re back working together all over again.
Chelsea’s official website had some interesting words from Silva where he explained his relationship with his German boss. But really the issues started a year ago.
PSG director of football Leonardo decided that Silva had to go – a decision the defender wasn’t happy about – and so he was allowed to depart for Chelsea just days after playing in the Champions League final.
Tuchel had apparently pushed to keep his captain, but there was only so much he could do. Six months later he too had been kicked out of PSG, and before long he was reunited with his old colleague in a new setting.
Now it’s down to them to show Leonardo he made the wrong call on both counts.
