What Ross Barkley did after being substituted for Aston Villa against Arsenal

Ross Barkley is enjoying quite the loan spell at Aston Villa, but his actions earlier today left his manager rather unhappy.

The exiled Chelsea star started for Villa as they defeated Arsenal 1-0 at home thanks to Ollie Watkins’ opener just two minutes in, the Midlands club continuing their excellent start to the season.

Barkley put in another decent display but was substituted 12 minutes before the end with Jacob Ramsey coming on in his place with Villa looking to see out the final moments.

But Barkley was not happy with his boss Dean Smith’s decision, kicking a water bottle as he left the pitch in what appeared to be a tantrum over being taken off.

The moment was a disappointing flashpoint on an otherwise brilliant afternoon for Villa and Smith was not happy with this midfielder for his reaction.

The TV cameras caught a deep glare from Smith to Barkley, showing clear anger over the incident.

Though, the former Everton star will likely be forgiven given his fine form since joining Villa on loan, racking up three goals and an assist so far during his loan spell.

It emerged this week that Villa could attempt to sign Barkley on a permanent deal with reports claiming Chelsea could be open to a sale, though not for a cut price.
